Drawtastic

The DRAWTASTIC Festival of Drawing & Animation is another initiative that showcases and pays homage to the great artform of animation. This Seattle-based event celebrates the very best of ALL animation from around the world – but has a special focus on traditional, hand-drawn 2D animation

The finest films entered into this '2D OR NOT 2D' celebration are awarded a coveted ‘Golden Pencil Award’. Categories include… ‘Student films’, ‘All-style animation’, ‘2D animated films’, ‘Music-based animation’ and now even ‘Flipbook animated’ films!

The next event will be it’s 6th ever. The very first was opened by the late, great Roy E. Disney - after whom the festival's top award, 'The Roy E. Disney Award', is given to the person, or organization, we consider has made the biggest contribution to traditional 2D animation when appropriate.

Over the years an incredible number of outstanding films and filmmakers have appeared at the event - with one of the films premiered going on to receive a full Oscar nomination! (Tomm Moore's fabulous 'Secret of Kells'.) The festival also includes a popular Comicon-style Vendor Hall, as well as a Gallery, where exceptional art and drawings from around the world can be viewed, purchased or admired.

(Note: The next 2017 event will take place in late February at the SIFF Theater in downtown Seattle !)
